3 Tips for Renters to Get Approved

Ever been in the frustrating position of being denied a rental application? It can be disheartening, but it doesn't have to be. By following these three tips, you can significantly improve your chances of securing your next rental.

  1. Make sure your car is clean

Landlords will think if you have a dirty interior on a car, then you will treat their place that way, so if you can make sure the interior just does not have overflowing trash, that would be great.  It does not need to be perfect by any means, just not overly cluttered.

  1. Make sure you bring certified funds with you to the viewing for the application fee

This could be a cash or money order. If it is a really good apartment or house, then chances are it won’t last long, so be prepared to put some money down on the application and get the process started.

  1. Be fully prepared to apply when going to view

As mentioned above, take the certified funds, bring recent pay stubs (30 days are typically the industry standard; I have rarely seen anyone ask for more), and if you receive any kind of benefits such as SSI, housing assistance, or anything else, bring verification of that benefit that you can submit with your application.
